Friday Things... May 15 - Replacement Window Life

Is it me or are Friday’s just another day now? There isn’t really any excitement or release or plans to look forward to. This weekend we have gorgeous weather forecasted and hopefully some long walks and a bike ride or two! Also, we do look forward to trying another fabulous Burger recipe. This week we chose the BLUE burger. Noone should feel BLUE after completing ( I didn’t say successfully) another week of distance learning, am I right? Soon that stress will be gone.
I feel like we’ve fallen into a good rhythm with socially distant appointments and sales estimates. We continue to meet customers who have put off window replacment projects, who are realizing how terrible their sliding glass door is, or who are just finally at the point where they are ready to replace their siding. Certainly lots of extra time to be inside their house contributes to this, but so does the extra time with their partner to discuss and put time into projects that have long been on that back burner.
Additionally, the warm weather and the absence of rain has our installers busy and Kasey in the office is juggling all of the tasks to make sure all paperwork is prepared for the install and all final billing can reflect what heppened. Meanwhile I remain the great and powerful Oz. Tiny and behind the curtain pulling all the levers and doing what I can to manage the distance learning for our girl.
On Sunday the MN Stay at Home Order expires and transitions into a Stay Safe MN order. As an essential business our day to day won’t change a lot, but it will change some. Read more about that here.
The worst part of our week happened this morning. We received word that a customer still has a completely full dumpster sitting at their house. The work was completed 2 weeks ago and we asked the dumpster to be picked up 2 weeks ago. Yet, here we sit. The customer is having some people over to celebrate a graduation and show off all the new windows, doors and roofing to their house. But that dumpster is still there. We called a different company than we normally work with. We didn’t follow up to make sure the dumpster got picked up and here we are powerless to fix it. It doesn’t matter if we got 99 other things right. This one thing is huge and it matters.
Fun things to note:
A former customer called us this week for something… she didn’t remember our name but had saved our Christmas Card! But then admonished Steve for not putting our phone number on the Christmas Card. =) What do you think? Should our phone number go on our Christmas Card?

Perhaps 2% of the work I did this week was customer facing. Those of you who work in the shadows understand how important your work is.
